About LocalAmplify

Word of mouth already sells more in Nigeria than advertising does. LocalAmplify makes it measurable, pays the people doing it, and protects the buyer at the point of payment.

The problem

A small business in Lagos or Kano gets most of its customers because somebody told somebody. That works, and it is invisible: nobody can measure it, the person who made the introduction is never paid, and a buyer sending money to a stranger's bank account on the strength of a WhatsApp message is taking a real risk.

What we built instead

Businesses fund a commission pool upfront and set what a sale is worth. Anyone can share the offer and earn that commission on sales they bring. Buyers pay through checkout on LocalAmplify, and that payment is held in escrow until the order is delivered or collected.

Three things follow from that. The amplifier knows their commission exists before they spend their reputation on it. The buyer knows their money is not gone if the order never arrives. The business pays only for sales that actually happened.

Built for how Nigeria actually buys

Payments run through Paystack in naira. Campaigns are targeted by city. Delivery and in-person pickup are both first-class, because plenty of trade here is still handover in a shop, not a courier. Sharing is built around WhatsApp because that is where the conversations already happen.

Where we are

LocalAmplify is early. We would rather say that plainly than inflate numbers — the counts on our homepage are read live from the platform, and if they are small, they are small.
